  • Introduction

I’ve been wanting to create a website/blog for sometime. There’s something about being someone who makes things, and there is something about the constant barrage of information on social media that feels rotten. I believe that for myself to make things that are meaningful, and to discover for discoveries sake, I can no longer feed the beast. And I believe the enemy to be short form media in particular. I don’t say any of this in a preacher’s tone, but there seems to be a bottomless pit and I can’t help but feel we’re all sliding into it. The saddest part being, the “arts” are the most at risk. So many have encouraged me to create a Tik Tok or to start posting “Reels”, but I’m not happy with what happens to me, or the art that I conduct when things are funnelled into this “McDonald’s” media space/format. The more of your time you waste, the more you get “rewarded.” I am preaching a little bit. We need to be bored, especially to make things of worth. In an effort to pull back, and opt out of short form media, I’m starting this website/blog. A place for the music I’m making, the photos I’m taking, the videos I’m shooting and anything else that floats my way and through me, to live online. There is so much utility in the online world, but I want to make sure that this phenomenon remains a tool, lest the tool ends up using me. It feels kinda silly to write an intro to a blog, which I’m sure will be a smattering mess, like me and most of us, but I wanted to do a little stage setting. Whoever is out there with listening eyes, thank you. I will do my best to make this website to be as much about the art, and as little about myself as possible, with the recognition that a full divorce of the two is not possible.
